Welcome!
My name is Todd Carson and I am the president of the Siskiyou County Trojans. When I was four years old I started playing tackle football. I played every season until concluding my career after my senior year of high school. After playing I immediately got into coaching. For 10 years I coached children ages 5-11. The next 10 years I coached 7th and 8th graders. Finally, for eight years after that I coached at the high school level. Last year I was fortunate to be a part of the great staff of the Yreka Jr. Miners 3rd and 4th grade team.
I've had many great experiences coaching Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, Track and Field, Volleyball, Flag football and of course Tackle football. There is something special about Tackle football. For some reason it seems to bind teammates the tightest. Whether it is the physical pain that must be endured, the sparseness of game days or the donning of the sheathing whilst preparing for battle, tackle football has something other sports don't have. Something that makes "Friday Night Lights" such an American cultural phenomenon.
The great thing about sports is that success increases as character increases.
That is why we teach courage, honor and commitment - three ingredients to greatness!
Many good parents question the safety of the sport. I know I would never intentionally put my child in an environment where there is a significant risk of jeopardizing his long-term health - ever. But after my extensive time in the sport and intense research, my wife and I have decided that, with proper instruction, football is not a serious risk for our boy (see the data in the slide show under the Parent section of this website). And what he will gain from the experience will enhance his life in ways not many other activities can. I encourage you to watch the video below where I asked Rocky Seto, former NFL Champion Coach and the man hired by USA Football to teach tackling to youth football coaches all over the world, to explain his position on the safety of youth tackle football.
I look forward to meeting you. Fight On!

We are a youth tackle football and cheer program for 1st-8th graders of Siskiyou County and surrounding areas
We are members in the Sacramento Youth Football and Cheer (SYF) league. We will have a minimum of four home games. Most of our away games are in the Redding area. We go as far south as Gridley.
We will practice in our area of Mount Shasta and Weed CA. Our home games will also be in the area. We will know more about the locations soon.
The cost to register for football is $249 and $149 for cheer. The cost of the gear for each kid is higher and we will be taking donations from the community to help offset the cost.
Siskiyou County Trojans was founded by a group of friends who shared a passion for youth football and bulding better men.
At Siskiyou County Trojans, we believe in honor, courage and commitment. We are committed to providing our players with a rich safe learning experience. They will learn about football and life.
